Data Processing

CTD

SBE official software is used for data acquisition and processing. Data are converted to .cnv files, and the process procedures are as follows:

  1. Data conversion: convert data signal to ASCII text files.
  2. Wild edit: mark extraneous values as bad flags.
  3. Filter: apply low pass filter to remove the high-frequency signal.
  4. Cell thermal mass: apply thermal mass correct.
  5. Loop edit: to mark and remove scans when the CTD is moving less than the minimum velocity.
  6. Derive: to estimate derived quantities such as salinity, density, dissolved oxygen concentration, potential temperature, etc.
  7. Bin Average: average data into 1m depth bins.
After all procedures, metadata will be inserted into a MySQL database managed by ODB.

Bottle

Our processing procedures are described below:

  1. Data digitized: digitize handwritten data.
  2. Missing data: Often, missing data are denoted with NaN, N/A, or blank cells. Our default missing data identifier is "NULL".
  3. Quality control: apply data quality control tests that identify suspicious data.
  4. Merge Data: combine data from the identical cruise into one collection.
  5. Sore data in the database.
